Hi everyone, one of our dentists recently reached out to us asking this question which I am going to post here anonymously for your review and thoughts/suggestions:
Hi– I have tried staff/team bonuses before and have had mixed results. Recently, I have had to go through a staff change process due to the turnover of some employees due to staff relocation and termination. During this time one stable staff member has exceeded all expectations and has gone above and beyond what any employer could have expected. She has become the one common denominator in the turnover equation. She is already receiving a high compensation and benefits. We recently ran into a conflict because she wanted additional “perks” and I suggested a bonus based on collections exceeding targets. She is a DA that also has a leadership role for my administrative dept. For all intent she is basically an O.M. for a 5-6 person staff. What do you suggest? Is there a way to establish a bonus setup for an superbly overachieving employee. Frankly, it would be unfair to place her on par with other employee’s, she has become the backbone of my 25 year old practice. Thanks for your help..
